    1. This novelette is currently free on :amazon/dp/B008HW917Q/*** 3 1/2 stars To put it simply, this modern day twist on 'The Princess and the Frog' was short, cute, funny and sweet. Sofia and Prince Alexander (aka Toad) made me smile at various points along the way. It's not often you get a wee fantasy about finding one's prince in a terrarium of all thingsIn the world of fairy tales, anything can happen, right?[] the next morning brought her to something she'd been dreading: it was time to feed th [...]

    2. I don't have a whole lot to say about this novella. I don't normally read a lot of romance, so it was a little out of my comfort zone. But it was sweet, simple, a little bit funny, had dialogue which was cute and a little witty, and gave an overall feeling of warmth. There were clichés, oh boy were there, but I didn't find the story dragging at all, and I liked the feel of the piece. After reading this story, I might be inclined to purchase some of the author's other works if the chance arises, [...]

    3. I was awarded this book from netgalley.I enjoyed this re-telling of a well known fairy tale, it has fresh characters, we all know about kissing a frog and he turns into the perfect prince. The likableness of everyone (Except the witch, of course) was easy to read, no stress involved. A story that feels good, a happy ending.Maybe it is a bit sexy for the little ones, but still tame, and makes you root for the girl to get her prince.

    4. I am a total sucker for Disney. Although my first love is horror, stick a fairy tale book in my hands and I become a complete sap. Hand me dark fairy-tale retelling and I'm in heaven. Kiss That Frog is the tamer variety.Sofia has agreed to frog-sit her nieces pet, incorrectly aptly named, "Toad". She is a loner spending the majority of her life dabbling in art. Baby-sitting a frog is the last thing she has any interest in doing. However, Sofia begins to feel oddly comfy with this amphibian and s [...]

    5. I received this book from Netgalley as part of a multi-work collection (Once Upon A Fairy Tale: A Collection of 11 Fairy Tale Inspired Romances) in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This was actually extremely cute and surprising (at least as far as my usual feelings regarding short stories go). Lonely artist gets roped into frog-sitting for her adorable niece who she calls "Tadpole". She, of course, ends up talking to the frog [...]

    6. Cynical Los Angeles artist Sofia agrees to frog-sit her niece's pet frog "Toad". As she finds herself chatting to the frog like it's a real person, quite possibly she's finally gone crazy, she decides to pick the frog up and give it a kiss. A short while later, she steps out of the shower in a towel, into her living room, and comes face to face with a handsome guy insisting he was Toadd that he's a prince.I love a good fairy tale and I love it when author's decide to modernize them! I thought th [...]

    7. I love modern takes on classic fairy tales. Although Kiss That Frog is of the shorter variety, it is full of charm and feel good romance. It was a very satisfying, easy read, which can be hard to do with short stories. It's really cute how Sophia seems cynical and guarded, yet she starts opening up to this pet frog she's petsitting. Even in his frog form they have this connection that pushes past Sophia's walls she's so carefully built. Kiss That Frog is perfect for a fun, quick read, for those d [...]

    8. I have a confession to make. This is the first novella I have ever read. I think it was a pretty good introduction into the style of novellas. This little tidbit of magic was delightful and left behind a nice warm fuzzy feeling. Would recommend for a quick cozy read. I am interested to see what else Ms. Rowan has to offer!I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. 3.5/5

    9. Received from: Cate RowanReceived Via: NetGalley Sofia gets stuck watching her nieces pet frog but when she gives that said frog a kiss shes surprised to find a handsome prince in her apartmentWhat a enjoyable little read; I love fairy tale retelling's so I couldn't wait to read this. The princess and the frog has always been a favorite of mine and this was a cute modern retelling of the tale. I loved this, the characters were fun and I loved the interaction between them. I just wish there was m [...]

    10. This was really funny and adorable especially for a modernized fairy tale! I loved Sofia's character and the way she took to Toad the frog eventually. It is almost a lesson in keeping an open mind and learning from your surroundings :) It.was short and sweet and a very good read. Easily read in one sitting and would probably be good for a rainy day or a day at the beach! I would recommend this story to romance enthusiasts and fantasy lovers alike.***This book is suitable for adult readers

    11. One day while babysitting her niece's frog Sophia feeling silly and dreamy kisses it. Coming back into the living room she is surprised to find Prince Alex sitting on her couch. This was such a sweet and funny story. There was so many giggle moments and it really does make you wonder what if.I was given an ebook from the author through Nerdy Girl's in exchange for a honest review. Thank you

    12. A fun short story: starts off well but the tale moves too quickly from babysitting a nieces? pet frog to falling in love with the mysterious prince who emerges from the enchantment. Lots of potential but I felt it was too truncated to really come into its own.

    13. A cute romantic modern day take on the frog that turns into a prince with a kiss. Humorous and adorable. A quick read. Actually had me chuckling at some of the scenes.

    15. My copy was provided by Netgalley. This was such a cute little story! It was only 45 pages so it didn't last very long, but it was awesome! First off, there's a prince named Alex whose father, the king, is forcing him to marry. Alex doesn't want to be married yet; he'd rather be free for at least a little while. But when a female caller comes around, Alex gets a surprise. The girl's mother is a witch and she did not like it when Alex rejected her daughter. She performs a spell on him and around 2 [...]

    16. Review forthcoming on a-reader-lives-a-thousand-liveI received a copy of Kiss That Frog from Netgalley in exchange for my review.200 years ago Prince Alexander made a mistake, that led to him being turned into a frog by a vindictive witch. Now in the present day, he has come into the care of 7 year old Livia. When Livia and her mother go away, she asks her Aunt Sofia to look after her frog. Though Sofia is reluctant at first to look after a frog, she is quickly drawn into talking to him, and on [...]

    17. Book Review- Kiss That Frog by Cate RowanAlexander of Nemere refused to marry the daughter of a Duchess who happened to be a witch. After telling the Duchess he would not marry her daughter, she lets loose her wrath and magic. Sofia is an artist living on her own. She adores her niece and gets talked into caring for her niece’s frog while they go out of town. Sofia is not thrilled to have the frog in her apartment and hopes it stays in its home and out of hers. However after time she becomes c [...]

    18. What a delightful little tale! I was looking for something short to fill a gap in my afternoon before picking kids up and came across this in my Kindle. I'm so glad I did too :)It's a nice gap filler novelette - only 45 pages and 12K words - but a wonderful way to spend part of an afternoon. Sofia is an artist who has closed herself off to the world and particularly men. Her paintings are detailed in their landscapes with people blurry and almost non-existent. Her seven-year-old niece needs her [...]

    19. H: Prince Alexander of Nemerreh: SofiaI thought this was a cute short story. It was very short it took me about 30 mins from start to finish. I thought for the length it was a pretty good book Great read for me While I was waiting to pick up my Kids from school. So you got Prince Alex's father the king and he is having a house party trying to get Price Alex to choose a Bride. Prince Alex is not ready and is trying to dodge all the girls, but one Mama is not having it Jesynne mother the Duchess i [...]

    20. This was a really awesome read! I loved how the auther combined the normal common fairy tale with the modern new 'El Lay'. It was great, and I really liked how the prince was pronouncing a lot of the words like;: 'teevee' and of course 'El Lay'. And they way he talk was also pretty nices, because at some points used some old phrases and words. So that was great. The only thing I found pretty ignoring, was the fat that Sofia and the prince fell so quickly in love with eachother. After just one fre [...]

    21. In 1820 in the kingdom of Nemerre, Prince Alexander's father, King Julian, wants him to wed. He has filled the castle with many eligible women to choose from. The problem is that Alex isn't ready to get married. He gets cornered in a room with the beautiful but unintelligent, Jesynne, and her mother. When Alex refuses to marry Jesynne, her mother, who is a witch, turns him into a frog.Fast-forward to modern day Los Angeles and Sofia is an artist. When her young niece asks her to petsit her frog, [...]

    22. This short story (113 pages on the Nook) was interesting. It was a little different compared to the average “modern fairy tale”. The main character Sophia wasn’t what I expected as a cynical Los Angeles artist. She was a little too willing to believe in magic and the idea of a frog prince to be classified a cynic, in my mind. Sophia’s interaction with Prince Alexander was funny. His lack of understanding in the modern world and her explanations had me chuckling while trying to figure out [...]

    23. 2.5 stars. This little novelette is sweet and adorable, taking on a modern retelling of the Princess and the Frog - or the modern woman and the Frog Prince, I guess you might say! Sofia is none too pleased when she's called upon by her sister to look after her niece's frog while they're away, but as so many family members do, she steps up to the plate to look after the amphibian. Strangely enough, she finds herself talking to the little beast, and from there things take a surprising turn which I [...]

    24. I think everyone has heard the story of the frog prince. Or at least have heard about kissing frogs and them turning into a prince. While I don't recommend kissing a real life frog (nothing against frogs by the way. I think they can be adorable. I'm speaking from a health concerned point of view.) in stories it can be an interesting practice.Sofia, our main character, learns this the hard way. She is pulled into pet sitting her nieces pet frog and though joking around when kissing the frog the i [...]

    25. Kiss that Frog: A Modern Fairy TaleI was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. In reading Cate Rowan’s captivating romance, I found myself instantly a fan of this author! A lonely young artist, jaded on love and life in general, finds herself frog sitting for her beloved niece. Distaste for her new green roomy turns quickly to companionship as her reptilian guest proves to be a very good listener. But when Sofia picks up Toad, and bestows upon him a kiss…the magic e [...]

    26. 4.5 Stars for what is a cute read! Kiss That Frog, A Modern Fairy Tale by Cate Rowan gives a new updated grown up version of the classic tale. The story is a perfect mix of enjoyable plot, some ridiculously funny scenes, and wonderful romance. Expanded it would make a very funny movie. I would pay to go see it! My only reason for not giving it five stars is the bad language used by Sofia. I get that she is a housekeeping challenged “cynical Los Angeles artist” but the language did not fit wi [...]

Kiss that Frog 3 Kissing Frog Stars When I snagged this little guy from Netgalley I did not know it was going to be only 45 pages long especially with a price tag of 1.49 on This is a little story that is about a frog prince! The main character Sofia age 7 has to frog sit for a week she begrudgingly decides shes going to actually befriend this frog and says that if she kisses the frog he will turn into a prince… but he doesn’t or does he? This book doesn’t flow like a 7 year old Maybe a t [...]
