    2. L.A. Theatre Works brings Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite to life. The play, first produced in 1968, follows three different encounters in Suite 719 of New York City’s Plaza Hotel: the anniversary celebration of a long-married couple from Mamaroneck, the reunion of a Hollywood producer with his former high-school sweetheart (now a married mother of three still in their hometown of Tenafly, N.J.), and the beleaguered parents of a bride who has locked herself in the bathroom and refuses to be married [...]

    4. sandyi/Among the many classic plays I've read and loved, Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest would probably rank right up there as the best. It's easily one of the most hilarious and well- crafted plays that leaves you in absolute raptures. But I also remember being particularly partial to another play by a writer I had not heard of before - Neil Simon. His collection of plays, called A Visitor From Forest Hills was part of the recommended text in college and I remember reading the fir [...]

    9. What a great dramatized audiobook. There are three short, separate plays about what happens in room 719 of The Plaza Hotel in NYC. Story 1: is about a married couple celebrating their anniversary. I found this to be very sad in so many ways. Story 2: A married woman meets her high school sweetheart after being apart for 17 years. I really enjoyed this one. Story 3: A young girl is crying in the bathroom of her wedding day. Her parents are outside the door trying to get her to come out. My least [...]

    10. 3.5 stars, actually. I love Neil Simon, the substantive joy, and quick clip of his plays. I am endeared by the mid-century shtick. I was drawn to this while battling the blues, and it was good company. Act I is the best one, which gives this play a teetering feel about it.

    11. Biting and potent dark comedy. Simon's dialog accurately captures the undertones and breakdowns in 3 relationships.

    12. You know, as Neil Simon goes, I was surprised that this play takes a pretty dark view of marriage. It's nothing earth-shattering, but enjoyable.

    13. The hit of the 1967-68 Broadway season, “Plaza Suite” is comprised of three short plays each set in suite 719 at the Plaza Hotel in New York. Surprisingly serious, each act explores marriage stumbles and the bumbling of human folly. The last act, “Visitor for Forest Hills”, set the New York theater scene laughing with parents trying desperately to get their daughter out of the bathroom and married before it’s too late. Simon’s dialogue crackles with naturalistic wit, his situations r [...]

    14. This is an anthology play with three disparate one acts. All of them work on their own but we're not startling in any way. The characters all feel cold manly because they brushed with broad strokes. The middle one strikes me close to home as I had an encounter much like it. I'm sure it's entertaining to watch But there's nothing startling here.

    15. Classic Simon that reads dated today. Must have been a tour de force to watch George c. Scott and Maureen Stapleton chew up the scenery!

    16. This is three vignettes and I really enjoyed one of the three. The first two were rather dark and not comedies at all. The last one was great.

    17. This is not one of my favorite Neil Simon plays. The play is divided into different time periods that center around different people all sharing the same hotel suite. The idea is fascinating I just don't care for the stories Simon chooses. The first is about a couple whose marriage is in trouble. This particular story line was more serious than I generally see Simon - something I found refreshing. The second is about a married woman who has come to visit a famous ex-boyfriend at his hotel. Not v [...]

    18. This three-act play (or series of playlets) is thought to be a comedy. I consider it a tragedy. In each act or playlet, the characters have been going about their business, living lives of quiet desperation, until a central event which occurs during their stay at the Plaza Hotel in New York City blows their world right open and reveals to them how pathetic they truly are. The difference between their aspirations and their reality is too stark to be ignored.I'd be curious to know if anyone who has [...]

    19. Can't really call this a book. Three vignettes from different hotel guests at different times in the same hotel suite in the plaza. Short entertaining and the actors did a good job of using their voices, pace, inflections to make the scenes seem realistic. Synopsis:1) Lady books to celebrate her 24th anniversary with her overworked husband2) Childhood sweethearts reconnect when the man comes to town for business. The woman has stayed in their hometown and is a typical married mom and the man has [...]

    20. I first read Neil Simon for Forensics in high school (Holla, dorks out there! Wut wut!) and I haven't read him since then. I picked this up for a project I'm working on and was immediately struck by Simon's timelessness. Seriously, the details of these three mini-plays within one large play may be dated but the emotions and the relationships are spot on. I found myself imagining what it would be like to tweak these plays to represent our current technology and had little trouble imagining every [...]

    21. This is really a series of three, one act plays set in the same suite in the Plaza Hotel in New York City. This is inspired, comedic play writing here. The first act features a couple "celebrating" their 25th (or is it 24th?) anniversary. In the second, a Hollywood producer catches up with an old high school girlfriend. In the third and best of the bunch, a bride to be has locked herself in the bathroom of the suite as her parents work together (but really, against each other) to get her down to [...]

    22. Three separate stories that take place in Room 719 at the Plaza. The first story, of a bickering couple on the eve or eve eve of their 23 or 24 wedding anniversary was extremely tense. The next two stories, about a Hollywood producer who meets up with his hometown high school sweetheart and parents trying to coax their daughter out of a locked bathroom on her wedding day were hysterical. Nobody does bickering hilarity like Neil Simon.

    24. I marked this with 3 stars -- but I am not sure. It is probably more like 2.5. I listened to the audible dramatization version. I guess I get tired of people yelling at each other. For this, only Act Two did not have the yelling.

    25. I failed to find the humor in a play about adultery and a lack of remorse for the act. There are some poignant moments as two adulterous people share weekends of sex and talk over decades. This was definitely not a pleasure to read.

    26. Plaza Suite is Neil Simon's comedy about three stories all happening in Suite 719 of Plaza Hotel in New York City. The third story is hilarious, but first two acts are medium fare.

    27. A fun little romp in the typical style of Simon. The three separate stories makes a voyeur out of the reader and ends in an enjoyable but unspectacular conclusion.
