    1. Laurel Hall returns home for Christmas from LA with just the clothes on her back. Her failed attempt at an acting career is nothing compared to what her sisters are asking her to do. They want her to beat the man who destroyed their family years before in a game of poker. Laurel's brother-in-law brings in a poker-playing friend from his college days who has been big on wall street to teach her how to play poker. But they find themselves interested in each other as they traverse the game of poker [...]

    2. From the book blurb:Red was her color. Hearts was his suit. Their wedding was in the cards!Flamboyant Laurel Hall was a failure as an actress. But when she returned to Dallas, she found herself with the toughest role of her life - playing high-stakes poker against the man who'd ruined her father. It was all part of her family's scheme for revenge But even an award-winning performance wouldn't bring victory. Laurel needed lots of coaching, and that was where poker expert Jack Hartman came in. How [...]

    3. Here is why this romance novel got a big nope from me. When the two characters go out on a date, the man tosses his keys to the valet parking attendant and says "I check for dents and mileage," then turns to the woman and informs her that this kid won't be impressing a girl with his car. And I thought: asshole. There was no way I could picture this guy as anything other than a total jackass from that point on, no matter how I tried. He didn't get much better through the book, at one point doing [...]

    4. I liked this book. It was more fun than I thought it would be. Laurel came home for Christmas and to avenge her parents loss of their business and their deaths. Her brother-in-law Adam calls in a friend to help. I haven't played poker myself but I've watched it on TV. It was cool watching Jack try to teach Laurel to learn poker. There are a lot of twists in this story. There are a lot of highs and lows. I loved the ending. Give this book a chance. It is a light read. Enjoy this story. I have thi [...]
