    1. *Reseña en español: Literatura Express* I started this book knowing virtually nothing about it because the blurb isn't all that illuminating and there aren't a lot of reviews so I had no idea what I was getting myself into: was it romance with a litte mistery on the side or was it mistery with a litte romance? During the first chapters I tried to define it but the plot kept changing it's course so I just went along with it. The book starts in 1950 when the protagonist decides to tell "everythi [...]

    2. I love fiction that combines history with good storytelling and so I was pleased to find both in this novel. The main character, Jack, reminded me of some of Daphne du Maurier’s heroes (or anti-heroes), people who find themselves in situations not of their own making but who are stuck like flies on fly-paper once they’re involved – The House on the Strand, My Cousin Rachel, The Scapegoat. Jack’s 20-year quest to find the mysterious girl who invites herself into his life in the early 1930 [...]

    3. i loved this read and fell in love with jack had me gripped from start to finish well worth the read and look forward to more this is my first book by this author

    4. What an emotional ride. Phew. The plot could not be more twisted, never what you expect. Just when you think you’ve solved the mystery, believing what people are saying was true, another twist would present itself and things get even more complicated. Jack is a proud guy, and a chance encounter with the beautiful Giselle changes his life. But all is not as it seems, what with all the lies, mistakes and misunderstandings. However, yet another shock or two awaits him. I won’t say anymore, but [...]

    5. An excellent debut, Katharine Johnson creates a tension throughout that, combined with her carefully-crafted writing, marks her out as one to follow. Good characterisation and tight plotting make for an enticing read. I look forward to her next book.

    6. This was an excellent read with many plot twists and turns right to the very end. The path of true love for some is a lot more stony than for others. Jack’s pathway is strewn with boulders yet, he’s not daunted by the prospect- his love just needs to be found. It’s not so much a case of who is Giselle but more of where is Giselle. There are some very dark themes in this pre and post World War II novel, highlighting the way war can change both a person’s personality afterwards and how tha [...]

    7. I admired the writing style of this novel and was gripped by the exciting plot. However parts of the story seemed unlikely and some small details seemed inconsistent. This is in contrast to the author's second novel, The Silence, which I read first and loved. Possibly the difference between the main characters was what decided me. I immediately identified with the woman in The Silence, while the young man who fell head-over-heals in love with an unknown woman who turned out to be very flawed - h [...]

    8. Review can also be found here. This review was written based on the e-galley of this book obtained from NetGalley.Lies, Mistakes and Misunderstandings is a book written by Katharine Johnson with the subordinate title of “A Vintage Mystery”. Now, I’ve no idea what a vintage mystery is—a historical mystery perhaps, and I do know for sure what ‘vintage’ and ‘mystery’ mean on their own—but I believe that having such subordinate title together with the book’s title itself, is an ov [...]

    9. **I received a Kindle ARC of this book from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**Jack is on his way to his ex fiancee's wedding when he meets a beautiful and mysterious woman named Grace on the train. She offers to accompany him to the wedding and and he takes her up on the offer. They never make it to the wedding however, due to a snowstorm which keeps them indoors for a week. During that week Jack falls in love with Grace, and he's sure she feels the same about him, un [...]

    10. I don't usually read books set during the War/ before, but I found Lies, Mistakes and Misunderstandings to be better than expected. I found the developments and discoveries regarding Giselle's disappearance to be highly intriguing and kept me turning the pages. However I felt the ending let the book down, as I was somewhat confused about the true events in Giselle's story- was she a callous murderer or not?? I felt the story could have benefitted from a chapter from Alice's point of view. I also [...]

    11. If you're looking for an intriguing read that you won't want to put down, this is the book for you! We start at the end and almost immediately begin a flashback that lasts for almost the rest of the book, as Jack tells the story to his visitor. There are twists, turns, and roundabouts, World War II is somewhat skipped over but it rumbles in the background. With Jack, you will wonder what is true and what is false about Giselle, and certainly not all is what it seemsI thoroughly enjoyed reading t [...]
